Mark Ladd

mjl-head-shotMark J. Ladd has over 24 years of management experience leading design and technical innovation for large multi-national architectural/engineering and emerging services companies. Mark is a seasoned professional adept in developing sophisticated solutions for the virtual design and built environments with a proficiency in merging disparate technologies and identifying disruptive business models.

Mark is the Founder/ CEO of LyteShot, an immersive augmented reality (AR) gaming platform that leverages the cloud and connected IoT devices for unique gaming experiences anywhere. LyteShot received the prestigious CES Innovation Design Award in the Gaming Hardware & Accessories Category and received the Auggie Award for “Best Augmented Reality Game” at Augmented World Expo (AWE), and Game Connection’s international award for Most Original/ Creative Project.

Previously, Mark led multi-disciplinary design and technical teams while managing the implementation of large-scale built environment projects around the world for Skidmore Owings & Merrill, LLP (SOM), including the new NATO HQ in Brussels, the SSA's new Nationals Support Central Office & Data Center in Maryland, and the Chemsunny Headquarters in Beijing. In addition, Mark was part of SOM’s leadership for firmwide strategic technology initiatives and platform implementation, including leading the development of the building information modeling (BIM) environment, data visualization, and 4D & Lean construction assembly and fabrication techniques.

Mark also led the formation of Millennium Development Group, a national real-estate build-to-suit start-up which focused on Federal public-private leasing and asset management with the shared resources of two multi-national real estate/ construction firms. He was also the Business Development Manager of the Midwest Region for STV Group, a multinational architectural and engineering firm where he directly contributed to doubling the region’s revenues in his tenure with the firm.

Mark earned his Bachelor’s degree in Literature and Medieval History from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and received his MArch from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) with a concentration in Digital Media where he received multiple awards for his design portfolio projects. As a

licensed architect, Mark received the John Wellborn Root award from the AIA Illinois for outstanding young architect, and he was also named as one of Building Design & Construction magazine’s “40 Under 40”. Mark was also the youngest board member ever appointed in its history to the State of Illinois Capital Development Board by the Governor of Illinois. Mark provides subject matter expertise and thought leadership on such topics as augmented/ virtual/ mixed reality, IoT, mobile platforms, BIM, Interactive Gaming, Internet of Things (IoT) & mobile platforms for international consulting companies such as GLG Consulting, BWG Strategy, and AlphaSights. He has been an invited speaker at such conferences as SXSW, Virtual Hollywood, Augmented World Expo (AWE), DMW Media Conference, TechWeek Chicago and QuickBooks Connect among others. He is also a mentor at Elmspring Accelerator, a real estate and construction start-up accelerator.
